Boulder – 1108 phono preamplifier
Power. Finesse. Dynamics. Rhythm. Musicality. Speed. Delicacy. Control.
Spaciousness. Precise imaging. Involvement. Extended frequency response.
Selecting only a few of these traits and asking any audio product to achieve them is quite a daunting task.
Looking at the list and then listening to the 1108 Phono Preamplifier, it immediately becomes apparent that it can do all of them.
With ease. For quite a lot of people, vinyl or phono playback was the first time they had heard of Boulder.
The degree to which our phono preamplifiers pushed the limits of analog performance forward
was shocking to many and it drew quite a lot of attention.
Decades later the 1108 is doing it all over again. With ease.
Traditional RIAA equalization as well as EMI, FFRR (London/Decca), and Columbia EQ settings for LPs made before 1955.
Flexible resistive and capacitive cartridge loading and setup (MC and MM) via removable rear panel, personality cards.
Fully-balanced input circuitry to take advantage of a phono cartridge’s naturally balanced output.
Gain settings of 70 dB (MC) and 44 dB (MM) enable use with virtually any phono cartridge.
Low-cut filter to remove low frequency noise caused by warped LPs or turntable rumble.
Two pairs of inputs for systems with more than one turntable, cartridge, or turntables with dual arms.
Two pairs of balanced outputs to connect preamplifiers and recording devices at the same time.
Interlocking casework damps vibration and shields the delicate analog phono signal inside.
Stainless steel buttons are machined and hand-polished to a mirror finish in a nine-step process.
